Live Music Under the Trees – The Runaway Train Cult returns to our Garden Stage

 

The Runaway Train Cult Collective is a fully acoustic band featuring violin, guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, sax, upright bass, baritone guitar and drums. Their genre is a delightful mix of Appalachian country, bluegrass, gypsy, New Orleans jug band & contemporary folk.

The band consists of full time professional musicians: lead singer (and ukelele) Miss Christine’s clear tone is in the tradition of Alison Krauss and Gillian Welsh while Wynand Dawel (violin) and Friso Woudstra (guitars) both also feature in the well known alternate Afrikaans roots group, Radio Kalahari Orkes. Brendan Ou Tim is a widely experienced upright bass player who has played with a variety of artists including Arno Carstens & Karma. Ruben Samuels is the drummer artists such as Rodrigues calls on when touring South Africa and Dan Roberts (banjo, mandolin, guitars) is a Music Producer and winner of the SAMA award in that category for Laurie Levine’s Six Winters in 2012.
