Welcome to Die Ou Pastorie Restaurant and Guest House

Located nearby Hartbeespoort Dam, the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site and the UNESCO Magaliesberg Biosphere Reserve

The foundations for Die Ou Pastorie were laid in 1884/5. During this time Skeerpoort was a flourishing farming community, and the parsonage was a building of status with well-built foundations, wooden floors and ceilings as well as sash windows. Architecturally, the “Pastorie” was built in what was later identified as the “ZAR style” with fewer embellishments than the “Victorian Style” – so popular with English colonialists at the time. After more than a hundred years of service as a parsonage, police station and private residence, Die Ou Pastorie is now a sought-after destination restaurant and guesthouse for our more discerning visitor both local or international to Hartbeespoort Dam, the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site and the UNESCO Magaliesberg Biosphere Reserve

Our Restaurant

At Die Ou Pastorie you are truly spoiled for choice experience wise. Everything about Die Ou Pastorie’s top-end restaurant and fabulous 4-star guesthouse has been painstakingly shaped to provide you with an intimate, relaxing and homely out-in-the-country experience.

On those chilly autumn and winter evenings you can dine in the beautiful old home next to a crackling log fire and when the warm spring and summer nights return you can dine under the stars within a garden whose trees provide a private amphitheatre and wonderfully peaceful ambience. During the day, you and a group of friends can enjoy a fabulous breakfast or a mouth-watering lunch under our large shady trees – and if you ask for this ahead of time, we’ll even set up a table for you right next to our treasured Magnolia tree (whose flowers are our brand’s prized logo).

Restaurant wise, it is important to note that because many people travel a great distance to get to us, we are not in the business of turning tables

Die Ou Pastorie is an emotion-driven business and customer experience which offers, warmth, hospitality, attention to detail and meaningful service-related engagements all of which, create positive and long-lasting memories for the people who come here or who happen to buy our marvellously innovative products (patés, jellies, nougats, jams, relishes, confectionary etc.) from external suppliers dotted around the country.

Then, there’s our not-to-be missed a-la-carte Sunday lunch experience. Phone us, reserve your table, arrive here around 12:30 and enjoy a sumptuously long and lazy lunch with wine in the garden under the trees. You will be entertained by our massively talented, now-resident and contracted in “Champs Elysees café style” musician Phillipe Abalovi, who hails from the French speaking African country of Benin.
